I smile when I think to my pre-kid self. I would roll my eyes at ‘those moms’ I would see in public, promising myself I would never be that kind of mom. Gosh, they looked like a hot mess! Why don’t they have their act together, and control those kids? Even if you’re the best mom in the world you find yourself saying things, repeatedly, every day that you never thought that you have to say in your life time. Some days things come out of my mouth and I question why I have to say them out loud. Let alone multiple times a day.
If you’re a mom who has ever stuck your face up to your baby’s butt and have taken in a big sniff, I guarantee you that you have said these things too!
I fed my kids ice cream for dinner tonight, and I am ok with that.
Today was… well, all I can say is that I survived today.
I had attempted to prepare an Instagram worthy meal. I had found a creamy mushroom chicken recipe on Pinterest the night before.
My toddler has no idea what a commercial is… I know that seems crazy right? You see we don’t watch TV in our house. No, no trust me I am not one of ‘those’ moms that is against screen time. It’s just that we use Netflix or Amazon Prime. So, she has no idea what commercials are.
There are countless ‘list’ out there on mom hacks, list of items you need for your new baby, and how to organize your house in two hours. However, is there a list with real things you need as a mom. Not a list of expensive beauty products or million-dollar coffee drinks, but real items that moms use to just get through the day?
This is a realistic list of items my family uses on a daily basis. Nothing is expensive, nothing is over the top. Just items I use, a real mom, to make my life easier. To make mom life livable!
Today I was a patient… I sat in the toddler’s doctor’s office nestled between the toy kitchen and the toy bin. Getting my vitals checked and recheck, as my back slowly ached from the hard wood floor I rested on.
Welcome 2018… goodbye 2017. I am not sad to see 2017 ride off into the sunset. We had many blessings in 2017. We took on yet another move. I was blessed with so many more followers and readers here at Laughter and Kisses. We enjoyed another year watching our kids grow and become adventurous tiny humans.
We have been in and out of the car a few dozen times today!
Which means, a few dozen times I have parked the car only to find the tiny little humans have disrobed in the back seat.
Ohh Thanksgiving week… a week filled with overwhelmed moms just chugging coffee and praying that the darn bird thaws out in time. Endless to-do list, trips to the grocery store, and placing a store bought pie in your pie pan you have yet to cook a real pie in. The endless begging the kids to keep the house presentable for just a few more days until you surrender it back to them to destroy. The stack of black Friday ads sits on the kitchen table, with countless sticky notes hanging from their pages.
It’s late at night, the room is dark. You can’t sleep and your mind begins to wander. You replay the day’s events over and over again in your head. You think about news coverage you watched as you prepared dinner. The horror on those families faces as they begged for help to find their missing child, the smoke billowing from the home where the firefighters pulled out the family pet, the dark red blood that covered the ground after the hit and run. The evening news shares those images with you as you were about to sit down to a family dinner.
You start to wonder, in the comfort of your bedroom, could that happen to us? How am I going to protect my kids in a world of bad things? You start to sweat and your heart starts to race.
Kids tooth paste.
Is there anything else in the whole world that is worse then this green beast? This goopy green monster haunts our kid’s bathroom, rearing its ugly head twice a day.
