35 Non-Toys Gifts You Can Give This Holiday Season: The Gift Of Experiences

Collect memories, not things

I think every parent on the plant has mumbled a few swear words under their breath as they clean up the countless number of toys every night. They are scattered over every inch of the house, within minutes the next morning!

We have sworn off the toy aisle with a burning passion! We tell family members every year, “NO MORE TOYS!” However, there they are… those big boxes wrapped up waiting for your child to tear off the paper and they end up enjoying the big box rather than the toy inside.

Well we have changed things in our house, and I have to tell you my kids have LOVED IT! We now collect memories and not things. We ask everyone to give the gift of an experience instead of just more stuff that will end up on our garage sale in a few months.

Operation Christmas Child Shoebox

packing party 6

A simple shoe box, it seems so lifeless to me. Something I would discard into the growing pile of Amazon boxes in the garage. Maybe my toddler would fill it with mismatch puzzle pieces. The baby would for sure sit in it and giggle with delight.

A simple box. Nothing fancy.

However, for some it can be everything. It can be hope, love, and comfort.

Motherhood Is Like An Empty Toilet Paper Roll

For real!! No like for real!!

That empty toilet paper roll…. it never fails! It always appears as I sit down. The first time I have been able to sit down all morning.

It stares back at me. Glaring.

The Kiss Method To Motherhood

kiss mom2

I have formed a bad habit…

You see whenever I complete a task, a chore, or just check something off my to-do list I reward myself. I reward myself with a kiss. Not the quick peck on the check kind but the melt in your mouth, silky goodness, ohhh baby yeah kisses. Yes, I am talking about those sweet, crave able, mass produced kisses from my handsome friend Hersey’s!

Giving Back To Your Community: Toddler Edition

Giving Back To Your Communit

I’m always preaching about giving back. It’s something that my parents have distilled in me from a young age.  Every week we try to find a way to give back to our community. A small token to make someone else have a better day. A way to bring a smile to someone else’s day!

How To Dress Up Your Yoga Pants For Fall

yogapants10

It’s that time of year, pumpkin spice and everything nice has filled our homes and store fronts! It’s also that wonderful, magical time of year, where we once again can pull out the beloved black yoga pants. Those comfy, soft pants that don’t make us feel guilty for binge eating ice cream after last night’s bed time battle with the kids.

If you can dress up this beloved clothing item to wear them out more in public, other than a trip to Target, even better!

Granny Panties and Nursing Bras

granny pantiesThis weekend I did a Target run with my sister in-law. She is expecting her second baby in just a matter of a few weeks. So, we hit up Target for all those last minute post-baby items she will need.

After grabbing a few hospital snacks and diapers, we were standing in front of the nursing bras. I started to laugh because right next to the nursing bras were those big old Grannie Panties! You know the kind. Touché Target! Touché!

To The Mom At Target Tonight

To the Mom at Target Tonight

To the mom at Target tonight. I could hear that sweet cry of your hungry newborn aisles away. The sound made my uterus skip a beat, that sweet little voice. I thought right away about those snuggly soft baby blankets, the sweet smell of a newborn’s head, the tiny little diapers covering an even smaller tush.  As I got closer to the check out, I felt your pain. I remember the feeling of desperation trying to get the groceries loaded and trying to paying before causing a scene. Trying to hush the baby, and dig for a checkbook at the same time. Feeling overly tired, frantic, and overwhelmed by this tiny little life that is disrupting everyone’s shopping experience.
